The funding opportunity will assist nonprofits and program authorities
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Marcia L. Fudge announced last week $15 million in grants to pay for home modifications for aging Americans. The funding will be made available through HUD’s Older Adult Home Modification Program, which partners with nonprofits, governments, and public housing authorities to make necessary repairs and renovations in the houses of elderly homeowners.
“By 2040, it is estimated that 20 percent of the population will be over 65 years old,” said Secretary Fudge. “We must allow our nation’s seniors to age-in-place with dignity. This funding will give seniors the flexibility to make changes to their existing homes — changes that will keep them safe and allow them to gracefully adjust to their changing lifestyle.”
